Nigel Smith was admitted as a Solicitor 1983 beginning his career in Central London, West End and Kent before joining this practice in December 1990.

Nigel became a Partner of Cartwright Cunningham Haselgrove & Co in 1996 heading the litigation department and he currently manages our Woodford Green Office.

​Throughout his professional career he has been primarily in various types of litigation with an emphasis upon commercial matters, also undertaking some non-contentious advice and drafting and applying the issue that arises in litigation when drafting of agreements for clients.

​He has experience and conducted numerous matters through to Trial including;

Substantial dispute over rateable value of a commercial property, involving the extent of lease obligations;

Personal Injury Claims

Contractual claims – both business and personal

Construction /Building Disputes

Professional Negligence cases , solicitors, Architects and others

Landlord and Tenant matters including service charge disputes, lease renewals and assistance in negotiating leases and issues arising over the scope and extent of leasehold interest, including boundary matters and ancillary issues.

Insolvency matters , advising Liquidators and Administrators, , acting in respect of Directors Disqualification actions and the administration of insolvency processes including Bankruptcy disputes, and Company insolvency

Advising in regard to actions involving Employment issues for employers, including restrictive covenants advice and enforcement

​Nigel is a keen golfer and is past Captain of Ilford golf club, Currently Vice Chairman and a Vice President. He also enjoys travelling, experiencing new places and different ways of life and all good and interesting food.
